It’s Not

Home is not a place

It is a state of mind

Home is not four walls

It is often found in two arms

Home is not a spot to keep stuff

It is a feeling of love

Home is not an address

It is where I am with you

Fandango’s Flashback Friday – Feb 24

I am technically a little over an hour late for Friday, but it has been ages since I have done one of these and really wanted to join in. Fandango asks that we reach back into our archives and find a post from this date in a previous year. I am stepping back to 2017 for this one I did for the daily prompt slur…

Connoisseur

Chauffeur

picks up her

dressed in fur

her demeanor demur

escaping a cur

of a monsieur

whose speech did slur

due to liqueur.

She did prefer

the amateur

masseur

whose cat did purr.

Home Sweet Home

Photo by Tejas Prajapati on Pexels.com

Two birds vie for the same tree

Both beautiful but insistent in their song

Equal force of conviction conveyed to each other

I watch fascinated wondering who will win

Who will claim this tree for their home

In a final challenge

There is more of a squawk heard

One of the birds is on the attack

And just like that the other flees

Time now to build that nest

Feelings

Photo by Sofia Alejandra on Pexels.com

I feel low

Unsure of everything

Unable to rationally react

I trust all those feelings as truths

And when I say I am worthless I have to STOP

Take a step backwards first

My feelings are not facts

Just a passing notion

I feel better

Before the Trauma

The light flickers off and on

Pictures in my mind flash too

A million different memories flood me

Like the tears flowing from my eyes

The past does not seem so awful

And I long to go back there with you

But with one word spoken I know I never can

Because you now are dead

And a part of me will never recover

Come On In

Photo by Mitchell Luo on Pexels.com

Step forward to the entrance

Open up the door and take a peek

You’re coming into my heart

And I couldn’t be happier

Look out for some baggage

Stacked up here and there

And boxes of memories

Some boarded up

Others wide open

But there is a comfort here for you

That I hope you find pleasant

And it is an easy going place

No pressure to stay but still

I hope you will share it with me

For many years to come

Taking Aim

Photo by Mikhail Nilov on Pexels.com

Shoot it to me straight

Is this magical night

The start of something new

Is there a chance on the horizon

Of change in the air

Or has cupid failed again

And shot a crooked arrow

This lighthearted look at the coming holiday of Valentine’s Day is just a reminder to NEVER give up hope.  There may or may not be change in the air, but if you never breathe in how will you know.  Taking chances is hard sometimes but to quote the old workout saying of the 80’s – No pain, no gain.
