Music Notes

“I was never too keen on the British music press. They’ve called us a supermarket hype, and they used to suggest that we didn’t write our own songs.” – Freddie Mercury

“I try to open up my heart as much as I can and keep a real keen eye out that I don’t get sentimental. I think we are all afraid to reveal or hearts. It’s not at all in fashion.” – Paul Simon

♫♪♫

“I was very big into making the Big Artistic Statement – it had to be innovative, it had to be cutting edge. I was desperately keen on being original.” – David Bowie

Faceless

Photo by George Milton on Pexels.com

Who am I?

Am I even real?

Is this all an elaborate fantasy

Or just ideas swimming in my mind?

I am a faceless, nameless soul,

Just a ghost of a person.

An anonymous collection of thoughts

Typed into my computer

And put out into the world

For the hope of a connection

That makes someone who is also

Nameless and faceless,

Lost and alone,

To find and gain a little peace from.

Find the Time

Photo by Ylanite Koppens on Pexels.com

No one is at fault but me

I have fallen behind you see

Too many exhausted hours

Never any time to smell the flowers

I need to kind of unwind

And then I could maybe find

A moment of two for me

Where I would sit under a tree

Just to let me mind wander

My time I won’t squander

In an effort to catch up again

This is where it shall begin

Word by word and line by line

I will try to write words that are fine

But my comments will be brief

And I breathe a sigh of relief

As I read your words so sweet

And I prop up my tired feet

So here we go again

Let the catch up process begin

Lady Lizzie

Photo by Mati Mango on Pexels.com

She felt the rage built

She was out of her mind

They would no longer

Try to run her life

Anger fueled her rage

She began to hack

Did in by her axe

Her mother and father

Never stood a chance

***

“Lizzie Borden took an axe

gave her mother forty whacks

when she saw what she had done

gave her father forty-one”

Always wondered what put her over the edge. Such a brutal crime in a family. I guess it reminds us all to be kind to our children.

Wherever We Go

Walk with me

Hold my hand in yours

I don’t know where we’re going

I only know I want you there

At this juncture of my life

I am tired of being alone

And I am tired of being used

I want someone to stand with me

Not ahead or behind me

You always have

And I trust you always will

We are partners in this

So walk with me

Hold my hand in yours

We can face it all together

Down any path we choose

On Butterfly Wings

I touched your shoulder and said hi

Then everything changed

You were not as I expected

But exactly what I needed

From the moment you took my hand

The butterflies began to flutter

And they woke up something in me

Something I thought was dead

I found hope when I found you

And I will forever be grateful

You brought love back into my life

And made me feel worthwhile again

I Need Love

Photo by burak kostak on Pexels.com

You have done it again

With unprecedented ease

You took an opportunity to share

And I heard my heart snap

You know I care so much

And would do anything for you

So when you said those words to me

It felt like you were standing

On the broken pieces of my heart

I am in a place

You know little about

But waving your love

In front of my face

Makes me ache with unrequited love

And hurt for the one

Who would ultimately pay

For what you wanted in a brief moment

To fulfill your own primal needs

Stay

Photo by Min An on Pexels.com

Don’t go now

There is still much to see

Much to learn about

And so much more time for us

Don’t turn away

There is so much to embrace

Much to desire for

And so much more time for love

Don’t give up

There is still much to feel

Much to open ourselves up about

We have only begun to scratch the surface of us
