Happy and Grateful – Day 119

This month is fading fast… and I think Mother Nature is in need of a reality check,  We had 70°F weather in winter and now 30-40°F weather in the spring.  That is mixed up!  Add in the rain and it was a good day for being inside wrapped in warmth of some kind.  I spent most of the day in a sweatshirt.

No late night card games this time… my friend has to get up “early” for a lunch date.  So the three of us watched a movie instead.  It was Deja Vu with Denzel Washington.  It was a very good movie with lots of action and a little science fiction thrown in too.

Over all it was a good day, pretty quiet and relaxed.  I am happy I had some time to talk, just us girls, with my friend.  And I am grateful that the rain stopped while I was headed to my Dads to fix him dinner – I am finding the older I get, the less I like driving in the rain.  BUT I will still take it over snow and ice anytime!

(Sorry this is posted late…. darn fatigue and meds hit faster than I thought they would last night!)

Well… lets see how much sense I can make.  It is 4am and I have had 2 shots and 2 drinks while playing cards tonight, more than I have had to drink in a long time.  I recommend the raspberry schnapps, the watermelon vodka is ok in a mixed drink but a little too intense for a shot for my taste.

My friend from Georgia is back with us for the weekend before she gets in the car to drive back home on Wednesday.  I am going to miss her.  I also worry about the somewhat unstable situation she is returning to.  BUT… it is her life to live and I have to trust she knows what she is doing.

… oh by the way, it was once again cold and rainy today.  But we stayed in tonight and played card games for 5 hours or so…it was lots of fun.  How many of you have played Cards Against Humanity?

To stop babbling and get to the point of this… I am happy to have this time with my friend and more so I am grateful she is here still – about 9 months ago she had a health scare and almost left us.

Know everyone can go at any time… tell those you care about you love them and treasure every minute you can with them.

Well the forecast for today kind of fell apart… well it was too little sun, too late.  When I was out and hoping to hit the park it was still grey and gloomy and barely 40°F.  So I didn’t get my trip to the park but by about 5 pm the sun started to shine and it did warm up a little bit, but not much.

My sinuses were a little more bothersome today, but with allergy season upon us I fight that right along with the cold.  I heard back from one of my friends I emailed and got a short text from a friend.  Sometimes it is just nice to know there are others out there that might be thinking of you… or maybe that is just me.

So today was another pretty calm day.  I did however fix a problem on my Dad’s computer so that is taken care of.  I am happy I got that done.  I am grateful for the friends who “talked” to me today in text and email.  Helps to not feel quite so alone during the day.  Now it is time for a glass of orange juice and some sleep.  Good night all!

Good news it that I am getting better… bad news is I am losing my voice now.  It is a pretty common occurrence for me when I have a cold for the cold to leave and try to take my voice with it.  My daughter constantly makes fun of me for it.  With any luck I will only be squeaky for a couple of days.

It was another day of recovery.  I did a little light cleaning in the kitchen and that was it for the day.  I did run over to my Dad’s to get him dinner and had a nice time visiting with him.  We shared some Turtle pie for dessert – yummy!  And I guess I did some more cleaning out of my inbox.  Most of it was sale ads I don’t have the money for.  I am still hoping to hear back from a couple of friends I emailed, but nothing so far.

Well to get to the point of my babbling fingertips tonight… I am happy I was able to be a little more productive today.  I am grateful for the pretty descent day out (temps are going to fall tonight into the 30’s) so I was able to still have the windows open for a while today and hear the birds sing.  Tomorrow might require a sweatshirt, but I HOPE to carve out a small chunk of the day to head to the park.

My medicine and numerous typos (I hope I caught them all) are telling me it is time for sleep.  I hope you all felt happy and grateful for something today!

Growing Together

I want to grow roots here

ones that mingle and mix

with the ones you already planted

I want this to be home

like nowhere else has ever been

but your roots are too strong

they are forcing mine out

they refuse to grow together

suffocating my new growth

will I ever find the land

that is fit to set roots into

ones that will grow with another

to create the shade of love

Well it was a little better today, not as many sneezes but the cough is getting deeper.  I slept really pretty well last night for a change and I know that is bound to help.  I hate being sick!

Aside from being sick… I did have to take my Dad to the clinic for a blood draw.  He was feeling a bit under the weather too still.  So we were quite the pair today.  Luckily it was just the blood work and then I picked up some prescriptions and went home.

I did take a little time to look through a touch of my mounting email I have neglected while I’ve been sick, so I did accomplish something today.  I am happy I can breathe a little easier today.  I am grateful I got a little bit done to match my energy level.  Now if I can get more good sleep tonight maybe I can have an even better day tomorrow.

*And a quick note… as I have been sick (and I just plain forgot yesterday) I will be skipping my Monochrome Monday post this week.  Sorry!
