Sunny Sunday – March 31

Today I decided to bring more light to the world. Today I ask you to do the same thing. Join me in posting something happy and upbeat, funny or serious but always sunny. It can be poems, stories (real or fiction), pictures, quotes or music. Let’s spread a little joy today. Encourage each other with a little positivity. If you want to spread that sunshine give me a link in the comments and we can light up the world together.  #SunnySunday

Getting this ready I am in a hectic blur – I have a lot going on and the coming week will be crazy. So, today is a good time to slow down and regroup a little, center and balance if you will.

The Cure

Take a deep breath

Listen with your soul

The world is trying to tell you

Slow down and rest yourself

The hubbub of activity

Is draining on us all

But if you take a minute

Just to focus on within

You will be the wiser for it

Projects can keep until tomorrow

You must slow down your pace

Take a break in the sunshine

And let nature’s medicine reign

Before I sneak out of here I did want to wish those who celebrate – Have a happy Easter!

Fandango’s Flashback Friday – The Elixir

WHOO HOO!  The weekend is here! It’s FRIDAY! And by now you should know what that means. It is now time to grab the flashlight and crawl through the far hidden corners of your blog and find old post from this day in past years for FFF. This week I recovered this one from the vaults of 2017. Hope you like it!

The Elixir

You have the elixir

To heal my broken heart

It’s really quite simple

I’ve known it from the start

 **

You have the elixir

To heal my weary mind

The easy going way

You treat people so kind

 **

You have the elixir

To heal my worried soul

To make me forget

And once again become whole

 **

You have the elixir

To make my life complete

The way that you love me

Is more than a treat

 **

So give me your elixir

The sweet nectar of you

For I know that forever

To you I’ll be true

Ten o’clock Saturday night and I feel pretty tired already. Although I shouldn’t. I slept in today and got almost 12 hours of sleep. But this damn fibro is kicking me around and I am worried I won’t be able to stay awake long enough to get this scheduled for tomorrow. But I am pushing through. I keep trying. And I don’t give up.

“Positivity, confidence, and persistence are key in life, so never give up on yourself.” – Khalid

“If you persevere long enough, if you do the right things long enough, the right things will happen.” – Ian Millar

“Believe in yourself, take on your challenges, dig deep within yourself to conquer fears. Never let anyone bring you down. You got to keep going.” – Chantal Sutherland

“Just keep going. You never know how far you can go.” – Gunna

And with those words of wisdom, I hope to inspire YOU to keep going. Make this the week you don’t give up. Find the strength deep within and never give up. One more quote, but first happy Sunday to you all. Until next week, be your own hero…

“A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.” – Christopher Reeve

Well, it is happening. Tuesday is the first day of Spring.  I have seen flowers and plants starting to turn green and little buds on some trees showing the first hints of leaves. It won’t be long until I can try to photograph flowers again. Although, there are forecasted lows in the 20s F this coming week so it wont be super warm the first week of Spring, but I will still take it. It was over all a very mild winter… I just worry we didn’t get enough moisture for the farmers.

Enough about that, it is time for positivity (I am positive I have Spring fever). Now the hard part… what to write about this week? Let’s see what flows from my fingertips…

The Awakening

Asleep for too long

She starts to stretch her toes.

Reaching deep into the warming earth.

She raises her arms upwards.

Trying to touch the sun,

Finding its heat intoxicating.

Finally, she yawns as she fully awakens,

Showing her true beauty to all.

The tulip is in bloom.

And before I leave… Happy St. Patrick’s Day! ☘️ Have a great week! (((HUGS)))

Fandango’s Flashback Friday – A Princess, A Knight and A Rant

TGIF… seems like a long week, but it really wasn’t all that busy. In fact I even got two walks in outside (YES, there is green starting to pop up out there!) and met with a friend I used to work with. Spent lots of time with my boyfriend and got some things done around the house.

But enough about that… this is Friday and that means it is time to pull an old post out of the achieves from this date years ago. This week I am going way back to 2015 for what was an early post that would resemble a “Mumbles…” for me these days. This post for FFF was originally posted here.

A Princess, A Knight and A Rant

Once upon a time…

The world does not have fairy tales.  It has the monsters and demons but never the happy ending.  Why do we make almost all stories end happy?  When was the last time you left a movie upset because the ending did not wrap things up in a neat little smile?  There is always a message of hope or a future of possibilities waiting in sparkling rainbows.  That is not real life.

Life seems more like a formula of one step forward two steps back.  There is a new baby for a friend, while 4 others suffer the loss of a family member or close friend.  One person I know gets a job, while two others still hit the pavement turned away door after door.  Even something as simple as a great sale at the store on meat, but the price of bread and milk sky-rocket.  Where is the balance?

As a kid teeter totters were fun, even the unexpected bump occasionally.  Now the bumps leave me bruised and I am light headed from the up and down with no stopping.  A merry-go-round brought smiles at 6 years old, now life’s unending spin leaves me dizzy with confusion and frustration.  Back when life was full of innocence a roller coaster gave a small scare before the rush of wind in a free fall.  Now life’s roller coaster emotions leave me in pain gasping for relief.

If fairy tales were real family would not rob each other, friends would never lie, lovers would not cheat and we would always help out a stranger.  Sadly that is not reality… can I become a kid again?

Mumbles … Pillow Talk

It’s 2 am and my head should be on my pillow. Instead, I am sitting up typing unable to unwind. Sleep has been an issue for years. I don’t sleep deeply – the cat walking across the room often wakes me. I often have trouble shutting off thoughts enough to get to sleep. But one plus is that if I do wake up, I can usually get back to sleep in less than a half an hour.

Recently the doctor has been working on trying to find ways to get me to sleep and into a deeper sleep but trying to do so without leaving me sleepy still the next day. The most recent attempt first had me sleeping about 14 hours, a try at half the dose had me out for 12 hours. So, we are going to try to cut the dose down further, but after the first two attempts I don’t hold out much hope.

So, I turn on some of what I call meditation music on YouTube and try to relax.  If that doesn’t work, I sometimes give in for a half an hour or so of solitaire on my phone… that will usually bore me enough to get tired. I do have “help” in my anxiety meds I take at night to unwind, or there are muscle relaxers for those nights I am really tensed up.

Tonight (or actually, this morning if you want to be technical) I tried to slow down the thoughts with an anxiety pill and will punch out a few words to maybe mumble myself to dreamland.

What do you do to get to sleep when you struggle with a wide awake night?

What Year Is It?

Shadows and light battle for attention

As the daylight tries to brighten the dark room

It is a struggle seen day to day

One side against another

A war because of differences

It’s stupid in its basic form

We should respect each other

And embrace our differences

They make us unique

Instead many just hate and shame

My God people

This is 2024

It should make no difference

The color of our skin

The way we love

Who we see ourselves as

Or how we worship

We are all as

HUMAN

As those next to us

To those who live in the area of the time adjustment for daylight savings time, I hope you are adjusting to the loss of an hour last night.  I know I am usually tired for a day or two while adjusting.  Personally, I have never really understood the point of the time change in the spring and then back again in the fall, but we go on.

So while we are on the subject of time…

Time Passages

It is precious

And should never be wasted

It can be fast

Or take an eternity to pass

It marches on

But can sometimes stand still

Time can be on our side

Or out to get us

Time is of the essence

But you can kill it

Above all you should

Take time to smell the roses

And as an added bonus…

Fandango’s Flashback Friday – The Break-Up

Is it Friday already? Wait, it’s almost Saturday technically… I better type fast! This week for FFF I reach back into this day in a past year and find a poem in 2018 originally published here.

The Break-Up

Photo by burak kostak on Pexels.com

It was all an act
That is the fact
You only used me
Then set me free
You didn’t care
You weren’t fair
My heart was broken
The words were spoken
I loved you
And you knew
But left anyway
So here I stay
Sad and alone
Waiting by the phone
For any hope
I barely cope
All because of you
And what you do
But thanks for the ride
I know I tried
It did not last
The stone was cast
Goodbye to you
Now we are through

This week I am feeling a little introspective and wishing for peace.  Things just look a little murky up ahead and I am trying to stay in my day and not focus on the unknown of what this year may ultimately bring.  The US elections and tensions all over the world are looming on the horizon… but stressing does nothing by wear me down.  I am trying not to look forward much, but when I do look ahead, I want to do so with a positive outlook.  Positivity, that is what I am looking for today.  Do you have any positivity to share?  Please join me!

End It Now

Take a deep breath

Slowly exhale

Look towards the sky

With your dreams you can sail

From the top of the clouds

To the depths of the ocean

You can feel deeply

Each and every emotion

And tomorrow is in sight

With all of its hopes

And its destiny is ours

We pull all the ropes

Show each stranger kindness

Be full of peace

And the future can be happy

If hatred will just cease
