We To I

Photo by Kaboompics .com on Pexels.com

We met online

We instantly clicked

We developed a bond

We were simpatico

We grew closer

We shared so much

We were best of friends

You met someone

You were happy

You had less time

You stopped calling

You barely texted

I was hurt

I felt abandoned

I miss you

Badly Bronzed

The pergola was covered with climbing roses and the air smelled so sweet.  He walked over to where she lay in the hot sun and said, “Why don’t you come onto the shaded patio now.  You know you burn so easily.”

She rolled over and sat up saying, “I suppose I have cooked enough on both sides.”

He softly touched her shoulder and said, “It may already be too late.  You look a little pink babe.”

Year after year she strived for the perfect tan.  Now as she sat in the waiting room of oncology, she regretted it all.

Nightmares And Dreams

Photo by R. Fera on Pexels.com

She closed her eyes

Drifting off to sleep

And she began a journey

Meeting fire breathing dragons

Riding majestic unicorns

Dancing at the ball

Traveling through the woods

Finding a missing prince

But it was all just

An epic dream

And she awoke

To the sound of her mother

Shouting to wake up

“There are chores to be done!”

Slowly her smile

Turns into a frown

And the true nightmares

Begin all over again

What’s Up Doc

Photo by Karolina Grabowska on Pexels.com

Lyle went to check the sink for any dishes left to wash and made contact with a knife, “Damn it!” he exclaimed.  His mom came into the kitchen to see his son running his finger under cold water.  He turned as far as he could and asked, “Can you get me the first aid kit?”

“What happened?”

“Oh, I forgot there was a knife in the sink and I cut my finger.”

His mom got a bandage out of the kit and handed a towel to her son.  Then she carefully placed the bandage around his finger.  “Thanks doctor mom!”

Persuading

Photo by Andrea Piacquadio on Pexels.com

Can I twist your arm

Will you see things my way

I’ll give you a little nudge

Speaking words of encouragement

I hope I can cajole you

To slide over next to me

Because your smile is so inviting

Your arms are strong but empty

And your eyes intoxicate me

Will you join me for a drink

And intelligent conversation

What are the chances

I can listen to you speak all night

Because your voice it soothes

And your lips look delicious

Will you take a chance on me

Her Shot At Victory

Photo by One Shot on Pexels.com

Tom came into the kitchen where Mary was fixing dinner.  “Big new at work.  JoAnn is up for the vice presidency.  There have been whispers about it all day.”

“Why is that?  Do they think a woman can’t handle it?  Or is it more of she doesn’t have a fair chance at it?”

“No this is monumental for us.  This is not some arbitrary shot at victory, if she gets this promotion it will mean big changes in the company.  And I’d venture to say it is about time for most of them.”

“Well then I hope she gets it.”

Distance

He held my hand and gave me hope

Then he showed his true colors

Little by little his cynical side began to show

He distrusted everyone, including me

He began to think I had other things in mind

And he put a lot of space between us

I greatly missed the friend I had

And asked him why so distant

His answer was more distance

And I became all alone again

**

One day he stopped to see me

And gave me what he’d borrowed

I felt like this was the final goodbye for some reason

He stood there at a distance and softly said goodbye

I fought back tears and desperately wanted a hug

But he turned around and walked out the door.

And I never saw that cynical man again.

Confessions…

I saw this word for FOWC and it was there in an instant. Song lyrics I had sung along with many times when my and my daughter would watch Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. So, it was a no brainer to mention Gaston and Belle’s opinion of him in this song “Belle (reprise)”… “that boorish, brainless…”

Yes, I am a disney fan and unafraid to admit it! Ha ha!

Mumbles … Equivocate

At my friend’s Zen Garden

I am finally within a day of posts… whoo hoo!  I think that means it is time to celebrate.  To unwind and relax a little.  And what better way to relax with a nice night of fishing, bug catching, watering flowers and talking to the neighbors.  Many of you will not understand that last line, but a few of you are bound to be out there that know all about a little game on the Nintendo Switch called Animal Crossing New Horizons.  It is just the latest in a series of Animal Crossing games from Nintendo.  And they are all a lot of harmless fun.  No violence, no swearing (well, unless you lose a shark off of your fishing rod!) and lots of cute animals.  I have a ACNH pal I play with quite often by visiting her island and then her visiting mine.  One particular night we were joking around, and the idea came up for a band name or a song called Pocket Full of Sharks, as we had caught many sharks that night fishing and you store them in you “pockets” until you can sell them.  I took up the challenge and a set of lyrics was born.  I envisioned it as a metal or at least rock beat.  Anyway, she said I had to publish this on WordPress as she found it quite funny.  So, indulge me for a moment while I step partway off of the sanity steps and delve into a little late night craziness that is…

A Pocket Full of Sharks

Pocket full of sharks

Pocket full of sharks

Great white, hammer head, whale sharks for me

On this island sharks are best you’ll see

*

First day on the island

I was alone and a little scared

But neighbors came to join me

And together we positively faired

Now don’t get me wrong

I do more than fish

But my favorite kind

Can’t be found in any dish

*

Pocket full of sharks

Pocket full of sharks

Great white, hammer head, whale sharks for me

On this island sharks are best you’ll see

*

With the bugs I do not bother

Because then I’d have to hear

Blather’s go on and on

Until the museum was clear

Clear full of arachnids, beetles and bees

If it weren’t for the branches

I’d never shake trees

*

Pocket full of sharks

Pocket full of sharks

Great white, hammer head, whale sharks for me

On this island sharks are best you’ll see

*

Now watch out for the suckers

They only try to tease

You think you’ve got a saw shark

But your dreams fly on a breeze

So when you see a fin

Don’t run and scare it away

It could bring you a fortune

Each day you find to play

*

Pocket full of sharks

Pocket full of sharks

Pocket full of sharks

Pocket full of sharks…(fade)

Now before I forget… equivocate.  Many parents equivocate to their children about Santa. There, now I did my part for the word of the day.  Ha ha!
