Are You Listening

Pooh forever seemed

to have fluff in his ears

It seems like you do too

Words can’t get through

Or you just ignore them

My voice is wasted breath

Never to reach its destination

After a while I feel like I am

A voiceless  entity

Just taking up space

Will you ever hear me

Will you ever learn

Or is history destined

To repeat itself

Happy and Grateful – Day 302

The month of October is upon us.  Fall is in full swing with the leaves gathering on the lawn… maybe a pile or two to run through even.  The evenings are getting dark earlier as the days grow shorter.  And a few of us look forward to a good scare with Halloween coming this month.  Everyday has at least some small portion of good in it.  I am looking for that good with this challenge to find my happiness and gratitude every day.  Join in with the challenge by commenting or writing your own blog… let’s find some goodness today.

I spent the afternoon today going to four different stores with my daughter looking for vampire teeth.  Then when we did find some it was the one size fits all curse… they of course didn’t fit.  So she took to them with the scissors to try to get the right cut on them.  In the long run she had to just cut out the fangs and used “stitched” floss through the plastic to hook them between her teeth.  Pretty clever of her I thought.  It made me happy to do a little shopping with her.  And of course we had to stop and get some coffee while we were out.

Tonight I came home to find my boyfriend involved in a project to put a peg board over my craft desk.  It will hopefully free up some desk space and keep more things in reach.  We got about half of it put together and all measured out but need longer screws to finish it.  We have to go out tomorrow anyway for groceries so we will get the rest of the parts then.  I am grateful he is doing this project for me.

I am going to go and watch some more of the Doctor Who marathon on BBC America.  I hope to get some sleep after this episode is over.  Remember to find your happiness and feel your gratitude.  Have a wonderful night/day!

Rules:

Put the tag badge and rules in your post.

Answer the 10 fall-related questions.

Tag at least 5 other bloggers to join in the fun!

  1. What’s your favourite fall outfit?

Jeans and a nice soft warm sweatshirt

  1. What is fall weather like where you live?

We have our share of rain and wind to knock the leaves out of the trees.  Temperatures can range from a warm 70° F day to a frosty night in the 20’s.  Into November we can have snow quite often.

  1. Your favourite drink to have in the fall?

Hot spiced apple cider.  Fix a big pot of it on the stove and sip it all day long.  Yum!

  1. Does your family have any fall traditions?

We answer the door with goodies in hand for trick or treaters each year and in November celebrate Thanksgiving.

  1. What are some activities and events you enjoy going to in the fall months?

Every year my daughter and I go to a local craft fair in November to do a little shopping and idea gathering.

  1. What’s your favourite fall-scented candle?

Probably apple pie or an apple spice

  1. Tell us about one of your favourite fall memories.

It is not one clear memory, but the many years I would see my daughter trick or treating as a young child, she had so much fun.

  1. What are some fall movies you enjoy watching?

My boyfriend and I try to fill October with a lot of scary movies for the Halloween season.

  1. What’s your favourite fall treat?

Any kind of baking.  The weather is cool enough once again to have the oven on for a batch of cookies, cakes or bread.  And I always get my maple flavored nuts at the craft fair in November.

  1. If you celebrated Halloween, what’s the best costume you’ve worn?

I would have to say one of the best ones was either the family project of the pizza or the box of popcorn.  Both came out great.

Now I am supposed to tag 5 people… instead I tag everyone!  Tag, you are all it!  I just hate to leave anyone out or make someone who is too busy feel bad if they can’t do it.  Please answer the questions, have fun with it and have a lovely autumn!

Happy and Grateful – Day 301

The month is starting to wind down and I am feeling more and more depressed.  My mom has been gone for 7 years but I still miss her so on her birthday which would be on Tuesday.  I miss the friendship we had.  I miss her sense of humor.  I miss her love of children.  I miss her love of music.  I just miss her.  I don’t feel it will ever get easier to be without her.  But I am grateful for the memories I have that no one can take away.

Another one of Moms loves was ISU football… today was their homecoming game and they won.  It would have made Mom happy and it did make me happy that they won.

I am getting tired so it is time to finish this up.  Remember to find your happiness and feel your gratitude.  Have a wonderful night/day!

Happy and Grateful – Day 300

I can’t believe it is day 300… I have made it this far the last 65 days should be a breeze.  I thank all of you who are still trudging through these days with me.  I hope I haven’t bored you too much!

Tonight I sit here watching Hocus Pocus trying to reflect on the day.  It was a sore one with the cold weather bringing more aches and pains.  I had to take a pain pill tonight so I hope I make it through this post without falling asleep.

Today’s happiness is a little hard for me.  My depression had me feeling very withdrawn today.  I think the grey skies matched my grey mood.  But there is always some happiness and I would have to say today it was my cat being a little cuddle bug and sleeping with me a good portion of the day.  I think it was because of the cooler weather she just wanted my body heat… LOL.

It was a pretty low-key day.  I did get to my craft desk and worked on a card for a friend.  It is always good to work on cards and I was grateful to get a little ink on my hands.  Hopefully the card will bring a smile to my friend’s face.

I need to post this and maybe read a little more before I go to sleep.  Remember to find your happiness and feel your gratitude.  Have a good night/day!

Happy and Grateful – Day 299

Today was filled with a lot of anxiety.  I woke up 15 minutes before my doctor’s appointment was scheduled.  I moved as fast as I could to get ready and get there within 10 minutes of the appointment time.  So I was pretty keyed up during the appointment, but the doctor is good about being able to talk me back down.  I was grateful it was still nice enough to walk to my appointment today… our first snow is supposed to fly tomorrow.

Tonight I was able wrestle down my anxiety and meet a couple of friends for dinner for a late birthday gathering.  It made me happy to see them both, it had been quiet a while.

I need to let my eyes close and get some rest now.  Remember to find your happiness and feel your gratitude.  Have a great night/day!
