Today I decided to bring more light to the world. Today I ask you to do the same thing. Join me in posting something happy and upbeat, funny or serious but always sunny. It can be poems, stories (real or fiction), pictures, quotes or music. Let’s spread a little joy today. Encourage each other with a little positivity. If you want to spread that sunshine give me a link in the comments and we can light up the world together. #SunnySunday
This week I am feeling a little introspective and wishing for peace. Things just look a little murky up ahead and I am trying to stay in my day and not focus on the unknown of what this year may ultimately bring. The US elections and tensions all over the world are looming on the horizon… but stressing does nothing by wear me down. I am trying not to look forward much, but when I do look ahead, I want to do so with a positive outlook. Positivity, that is what I am looking for today. Do you have any positivity to share? Please join me!

How are all of you doing this fine Sunday? I am having a third and final Christmas this afternoon… seeing my whole family today where we only do a name draw for gifts (I’d go broke if I bought for everyone) then tomorrow the tree and decorations come down for another year.
I am keeping things light today… quite literally. Hope you enjoy this acrostic poem.
Light
Laugh like there is no one judging you
Ignite the day with a bright smile
Give of your heart to whomever you meet
Have a song in you head to dance through the day
Teach joy and peace daily to all
…be the light you want to shine.

It is hard to believe this is the last day of 2023. I know a lot of people are doing year end summaries but why look back when you can wish forward? But this is not a resolution list either. Quite simply it is a carry over from the Christmas cards I sent out – Peace on Earth. What can I do to bring peace, even if it is just inner peace, love and light?
Be kind and understanding of others. I am not the only one with struggles and I sometimes forget to have patience with others.
Be present in the moment. Don’t miss a minute by being lost in time. You only get each minute for 60 seconds – feel it, respect it, and live it.
Take the beauty out of every day. Rain brings flowers. Snow gives people a chance to ski and sled. Even ice brings out the natural beauty in all it coats.
And ALWAYS bring the sunshine with you. A smile goes a long way, a helping hand can mean the world and giving of your time can bridge great obstacles.
As we begin the countdown tonight (and it really is a counting up this year 12/31/23 = 1,2,3, 1,2,3) try to think about peace… I realize at midnight it will not be peace and quiet as we yell greetings of Happy New Year, but if we can just hold onto the word peace maybe it can spread like wildfire and ignite what we truly need in this world right now.
Stay safe tonight… party responsibly. Have a very HAPPY New Year!
As always on a Friday afternoon I reach back past the cobwebs to my old posts and share one from the tombs in a past year on this date. This week it is a young one, only two years old from 2021.
She put the car into forward and pulled down the street. Turning the corner, she headed for the highway. She was stressed and so frustrated. She hit the city limits and accelerated to 55 MPH. Looking ahead of her there was only one car in the distance and no cars in the rearview mirror. She took a deep breath and let out a blood curdling scream for as loud and as long as she could. Then she smiled.
It wasn’t a big smile, just the smallest hint of one hitting the corner of her mouth. She was finally free. It had been a frustrating day with him moving out, but it was done and over and she had the keys back to her house… she could finally relax and not feel so alone while with people who ignored her. She could find a little peace and solitude in the time she was alone now. Not conflict and frustrations.
She turned the car around at the next turn and drove back into town. She would grab a coffee at the local shop and then go to her home and for the first time in a long time, feel at peace.
