And I scowl back
You snap at me

The battle begins
Back and forth
The words fly
And tensions build
Until someone says
That forbidden thing
The jab from the past
That rips at the soul
And feelings are crushed
Hearts are scarred
And the relationship
Is forever damaged unless
… you hold back and use kindness
Even in the heat of the battle
This is someone you care about
And you should treat them accordingly
